For Mayor BSL, it’s still ‘GMA-Resign

CITY Mayor Benjamin S. Lim maintained his call for President Gloria Arroyo to make a supreme sacrifice and step down even as he expressed reservation about changing the Constitution now.

“Madame President please step down and save the Filipino people,” Lim reiterated when he asked if he regretted his previous statement and had changed his earlier stand.

Before leaving for a two-week official business trip in the United States, Lim had issued a press statement calling for President Arroyo to resign.

“I think the proposal for a constitutional change will only bring turmoil to the country, because there are pending issues that need to be resolved such as the jueteng payoff and Gloriagate tape,” Lim said.

He noted that although the impeachment proceedings against the President has started, the proceedings will take long because the legislators are still arguing on the procedures for the impeachment trial.

He said however he will favor amendments to the Constitution as long as it is clear “what specific items in the constitution need to be changed.” He added that it should not be changed in its entirety.”

Lim added there is a need to educate the people about the proposed new form of government because the masses do not really understand what federal and parliamentary form of governments are.

Lim stressed that Philippines is a democratic country so everybody is free to express his sentiment, ideas and beliefs.

“In my case, I believe that GMA should step down because she is the main cause of the country’s political crisis. I say this without malice. I am saying it because it is my conviction,” he added.

The mayor believes that the country will achieve stability if the leader, in the person of the President, performs the ultimate personal sacrifice of resigning from office.

He denied that former President Fidel V. Ramos somehow had a hand in his decision and laughed off the issue that he miscalculated the statements of the former, a well known political associate of his.

As regards his relationship with Lakas Party members, Lim said it is never wrong for a party member to express his opinion on how to resolve a national issue such as loss of credibility of a leader.

He said that the more discerning party members should appreciate such kind of act in a democratic country like the Philippines.

Lim, who is one of the original Lakas stalwarts, stressed that as a partyman, he had done his part in supporting not only the group, but also the administration candidates as can be gleaned from the result of the last election and the previous elections when he participated as a Lakas candidate. Comments:
Mayor Lim is so immature in calling President Arroyo to step down. Yep! Philippines is a democratic country, so he's got every right to say whatever he wants to say. No one is complaining about his rights. But, he should have kept mum about it since it really isn't helping our people and our economy. It's good that Mayor Lim has an option to go to the US when the going gets tough. And why not? He's got money. But what about the majority of people who are trying to make ends meet? The people are tired of the on going conspiracy to take Arroyo down. From one allegation to another another. It's just sickening. And who do you think they're hurting? They're hurting the same people they claimed they wanted to protect..the masses. It is so obvious that the oppositions only want one thing: to grab power! And why not? Of course, they're trying to protect their own selfish interests. As simple as that. Mayor Lim is no different from the oppositions. He's got a lot to gain if Arroyo steps down, and therefore, he will continue calling Arroyo to step down. I got news for you, mayor! Your calls for Arroyo to step down ain't working. So, might as well tell the oppositions to stop all these garbage coz it is only hurting the economy. The money they spent in all these hearings should be spent somewhere else. Why do they have to spend their time and money listening to Senate hearings only to listen to Zuce's, Cam's, Garcia's and Arcbishop Cruz' bullcrap! Enough already! Spend the money on providing people with their basic needs.

you people are crazy, anyone who supports the GMA resign thing are like supporting estrada or lacson or evil.
ad pa kayo tanga, mangibabaing kayo,no untan ya lanang so gagawaen nu angapo lay pag-asa ditan ed pilipinas.
SUPPORT GMA no labay yo ya tulungan tay sarili yo

Aliwa ak ya,maka-oposisyon o maka-Arroyo o maka-matakew o matila.Maka-Pangasinan/Maka-Pilipino ak.Agko labay ya suportaan si Arroyo ta mapapatnag ya,inambagel tan aambagelen to ni iray Pangasinenses tan Pilipino!Ibabaing ko met si Speaker De Venecia, laot lad si Tabako Ramos!Makapa-uta kayo, sikara(Ramos & DeVenecia)so tipikal ya "Tabuney" o "Anay" ya tatawagen tayon,mangi-geba na inaro tayon Probinsyay Pangasinan tan Bansa tayon Pilipinas.Inarok iran kabaleyan, ipanengneng tayo ya,agga naluko tan nasaliw so aray tagad Pangasinan!Matalino tan masisibeg iray tagad Pangasinan, laot la no,ilalaban da so Demokrasya tan,pangka-abigan na Probinsya tan baley to so pantutong-tongan!Ipatnag tayo ya agtayo labay so matakew tan matila, diad abong tayo, baley tayo, probinsya tayo, bansa tayo laot la,diad gobyerno y tayo!

You know, it's easy to blame others especially when things go wrong. When a person calls FVR and JDV termites and accused them of destroying the country and the Pangasinenses, that person should explain why he came to that conclusion. Why were they called as that. What did they do? I have a problem when people accusing others based on what they see in the news. I can't comprehend why? Like for example, people tend to blame Arroyo because of the staggering oil prices. This isn't only happening in the Phils. Oil prices went up everywhere. I don't hear people blaming Bush because of that. Let's get back to the current political crisis in the Phils. Who is dragging this so called jueteng and this Hello Garci thingy. It's the oppostitions. They are the ones who are trying to destabilize Arroyo to grab power. Can't the people get this? Isn't it obvious? Come on people, look at Zuce's testimony, it's garbage. Look at Garcia's admission implicating the oppositions by trying to manipulate the people by using the media so their so called allegations will get attention and eventually, will throw Arroyo out of the office. It ain't gonna happen. There are rules. You've got complaints, file a complaint to the proper forum. Present the proofs. Back up your claims. Use the rules of law to work for you. Don't use the media and try to pass allegations or accusations as the real thing..enough of this garbage!
